What's New for NWREC?

Mr. Ron Mobley retired as Center administrator effective June 30, 2002. The new administrator is Dr. Delbert Hemphill, who has served as vegetable crop research leader at the Center since 1976.

This site was recognized as an outstanding agribusiness site by the Global Agribusiness Information Network. The award cited the Commercial Vegetable Production Guides and our links to sites of free agricultural information.

Ms. Anne Connelly joined NWREC in 2002 as winegrape extension specialist. She will have offices both at NWREC and on the main campus in Corvallis.

Dr. James Altland joined NWREC in 2002 as district extension agent for nursery crops.

Dr. Ulrich Orth joined the NWREC faculty in 2001 to conduct research on the marketing of wine and nursery crops.

Dr. Wei Qiang Yang joined the NWREC faculty in March, 2001 with responsibility for extension and applied research in the berry crops.

Dr. Ed Hellman, formerly extension specialist for winegrapes, left NWREC for a position with Texas A&M University in Lubbock.

An IPM Extension website has been initiated by Robin Rosetta. Links to this site have been added to the NWREC page.

Dr. Hannah Mathers, formerly district extension agent for nursery crops, left NWREC to take the position of state-wide extension specialist for nursery crops at the Ohio State University.
